Oregon's initiatives, Detroit's forum and BP's 60 thousand gallon crime against nature.

Speaking from the Oval Office as befits the scale of the disaster, President Barack Obama resorted to military terminology to describe his administration’s response to the human diisaster.  Nowhere in any of the president’s careully chosen words was responsibility ever placed at the feet of the American consumer.  Obama got right to the heart of Wall Street’s concerns when he said,   “At home, our top priority is to recover and rebuild from a recession that has touched the lives of nearly every American. Abroad, our brave men and women in uniform are taking the fight to al-Qaida wherever it exists.”  In other wordss, We want what we want when we want it and if it takes the wholesale demise of the Gulf states, so be it.  And when it comes to our lackluster adventures overseas, well, just suck it up.

Meanwhile, back in Detroit - where the whole sad saga began, one might observe - the 2010 US Social Forum is set to begin.  There are fourteen major 'tracks' open for discussion covering the whole panorama of issues confronting people who are actually paying attention.

And finally this:  An enormous six-story high Jesus figure in Ohio was hit by lightening and burned to the ground.
