Greetings! This is Natalie presenting the KBOO Community Calendar for the weekend of May 16th and 17th. Information is also repeated at the kboo.fm website.
This Saturday, hop on over to the 10th Annual Art Hop in the Alberta District 11am – 6pm.
Seventeen blocks of NE Alberta Street will be closed to car traffic, accommodating 100+ artists, crafts people, music, dance and theater performers. This year’s theme is “Coming Home”, featuring the late artist Thelma Johnson Streat.
Streat, an internationally acclaimed artist and dancer from Portland, was the first African American woman whose artwork was collected by the Museum of Modern Art. Up to 50 of Streat’s original works, on loan from The Johnson Collection, will be on display for this one day event.

The Portland Saturday Market celebrates its new Waterfront Park home near SW Ankeny and Naito Parkway. The opening includes a press conference at 10:45 a.m., processional from the market's former site to its new location, and a ribbon cutting ceremony. For details, visit

On Sunday evening, Northwest VEG hosts a potluck dinner and lecture by Ramona Ilea, a philosophy professor from Pacific University.
