With schools closing down all across the state and country, many parents are finding themselves taking on the role of teacher and finding new forms of entertainment for their children at home.
Dr. Christopher Cirino, an Infectious Disease Specialist at Adventist Health in Portland, is hosting a coronavirus-education themed drawing contest for kids to participate in while they are sheltering at home. KBOO's Melissa Hood spoke with Dr. Cirino to learn more.
Contest information: Children aged 5 to 17 can enter. A parent can submit a photo of their children’s art with the child’s name and age to yhfcirino@gmail.com to enter the contest, or post the drawing on Instagram with the hashtag cov19_art.
On Thursday, April 9th, all of the submissions will be posted on the Facebook page so that people can vote for their favorites. Winners will be announced at noon on Friday.
The first place prize will be 200 dollars, second will be 75 dollars, and third will be 50 dollars. The winning art pieces will be showcased on the Your Health Forum site on both Facebook and Instagram.
