It's the 5th Friday of the month, and the last one before Portland's annual Waterfront Blues Festival. Since Mr. Jones's Neighborhood airs only on the 5th Friday of the month, we're celebrating the festival a little early this year.
As usual, KBOO will be live broadcasting all four days of the festival, July 4th through the 7th, from noon to 10pm. And, as usual, our special Blues Fest edition guest is the amazing Oregon born-and-bred singer/songwriter/guitarist Ty Curtis. Ty and his bass player Ryan Stadler will be joining us to preview the band's festival appearance, and play a few tunes for us live in the KBOO studios!
We'll also be talking with Lisa Loving, long-time Portland journalist, and currently KBOO’s News and PM Public Affairs Director, about her new book Street Journalist: Understand and Report the News in Your Community. Lisa won’t be performing at the Blues Festival, but she will be reading at Powell’s Books, in downtown Portland, this Sunday, June 2nd at 7:30 PM.
All that great talk and music, along with the usual comedy and novelty bits. It’s a beautiful day in the neighborhood!
