Animators from Oregon and California converge to share their art and their sense of community
Whitman at the Whitsell is the name of an animation and poetry celebration honoring the 200th birthday of American poet Walt Whitman. Producer Marilyn Zornado has organized a gathering of Northwest-based artists, including Devon Damonte, Teresa Drilling, Deanna Morse, and Joan Gratz, to create short animated works representative of Whitman’s writings.
We're also joined by GLAS Animation Festival co-founder Einar Baldvin, and by Northwest Animation Festival director Sven Bonnichsen. Sven has invited the Berkeley-based GLAS Festival to screen their experimental community-based animation program in Portland for the first time.
