On today's Radiozine, we have a special presentation of With Good Reason featuring a discussion about William Apess of the Pequot Indian Tribe who has been called the Native American Frederick Douglas. Drew Lopenzina says Apess challenged the powers of his day using the pen, the pulpit, and protest. Also: Another story of Native American resilience comes to life through Black Elk, an Oglala Lakota medicine man and Catholic preacher. Joe Jackson recently wrote a biography of Black Elk, the spiritual leader who was born in 1863 and died at Pine Ridge Reservation in South Dakota.
