Words and Pictures explores Portland Cable Access with host S.W. Conser and guests Michael Garcia and Avalon Leonetti
Portland natives celebrate the glory days of weird amateur televison

Portland Cable Access at the end of the 20th century gained a reputation for creativity and outrageousness, featuring such characters as "Working" Kirk Reeves, Jim Spagg, and Stephanie ("Where's the Art?") Pierce.  And Oregon's uniquely strong freedom of expression laws paved the way for oddball programs like The Chess Show and Experiment One.

Michael Garcia and Avalon Leonetti's multimedia "comedy panel nostalgia trip" Forgotten Fantasies aims to bring the history of cable access TV out of the shadows and onto the stage, to battle the telecoms for continued access to media facilities, and to inspire new generations to be fearless in their self-expression.
