Alyssa Pariah and I will be joined on-air by Charlene Carruthers. Unapologetic: A Black, Queer, and Feminist Mandate for Radical Movements is the highly anticipated first book from Carruthers—one of America's most influential activists. In Unapologetic she issues a call-to-action for collective liberation and, through a reimagining of the Black Radical Tradition, seeks to disrupt political, economic, social, and gender norms. Combining history, self-reflection, and practical organizing tools, Carruthers's book stands apart from the numerous activist memoirs to recently hit shelves, offering a more intellectually engaging, useable guide for readers. The book also illustrates an accessible, flexible model for organizing (anchored in the Chicago model of activism) that will help others build more effective, collaborative, and lasting social justice movements across various activist groups.
