Diamanda Galás released a pair of albums in 2017, All the Way, and At Saint Thomas the Apostle Harlem. On both albums, one all live and the other mostly live, Galas is unaccompanied, giving the music the full intensity of her piano and incredible vocals. Tonight we hear selections from both albums.
Kristin Hayter, who performs as Lingua Ignota, has often been compared to Galas. If anything her music, mixing opera with industrial, is even more brutal and intense, forged by her survival of domestic violence. We will hear tracks both her 2017 releases, All Bitches Die and Let the Evils of His Own Lips Cover Him.
And if we have time we might hear a few other peices released in 2017.
