In mid-June 1976, the Grateful Dead embarked on their first concert tour in two years.
Following two 'return shows' in Portland, OR, where the band introduced several new tunes (Lazy Lightning, Supplication, Might As Well, Samson & Delilah, The Wheel, Mission in the Rain) and revived Dancing in the Street and Cosmic Charlie, they went East; Boston, New York, Passaic, Upper Darby and Chicago. The setlists on this tour were not widely divergent but played consistently well.
Today's show will feature the band's first gigs at the Capitol Theater in Passaic, NJ; the 9th 10th and 11th shows since their return. Some of the songs above will be played; other tour revivals High Time, St. Stephen and Comes A Time may also be in the mix.
