In the aftermath of the 2016 general election debacle, peace activists in the Washington, DC area grew concerned over an increase in hate crimes and public incidents of racially and religiously motivated violence.

In response, activists developed a training to help bystanders intervene in a non-confrontational way to de-escalate and de-fuse tense situations.

To learn more about Bystander Intervention Training, KBOO reporter Doug McVay spoke with Kit Bonson from the Montgomery County, Maryland, Civil Rights Coalition.
