The last several years have seen a number of contentious local ballot measures in Oregon’s rural counties, around the use of pesticides and genetically modified organisms.
Nearly all of these measures have inspired record-breaking campaign donations for county measures, with the AGAINST side often receiving prominent donations from agrochemical giants like Monsanto, Dow, and Cargill.
KBOO reporter Sam Bouman has this story on a measure in Lincoln County, Oregon, which hugs the coast west of Salem. He spoke with Alan Fujishin, third-generation farmer from Lincoln County and the director of the Coalition to Defeat 21-177.
