Six Hundred Forty acres of land located within the Grand Teton National Park was transferred from state to federal ownership on December 13th, protecting it for generations to come. The newly acquired area, known as Antelope Flats, is within the migration route of the world’s largest herd of elk, as well as the pronghorn bison and other species. With the recent worries over development on state owned lands, many see federal land ownership as a path towards preserving America’s wild spaces.

KBOO’s Miriam Widman spoke with Leslie Mattson, president of the Grand Teton National Park Foundation to learn more about how they raised the $46 million dollar price tag in just 8 months.
