Today the Oregon Bureau of Land Management, rejected the hardrock lease application for a site near Mount St. Helens.According to the BLM, an Environmental Assessment conducted in 2007 was unclear in its findings, and that the mining could result in mineral development exceeding what is allowed on federal land.The BLM had originally filed a finding of "No Significant Impact" of the proposed hardrock mining activity, but after a period of public comment and review, decided not to allow the project to go forward.
