Between the Covers with "The Wonder" author Emma Donoghue

Host Bethany Grabow talks with Emma Donoghue, author of the new book The Wonder. This historical fiction follows Florence Nightingale-trained nurse Lib as she travels to rural Ireland in 1859 to determine whether a young girl who has purportedly survived with no food for four months is a hoax or a miracle.

Publishers Weekly called The Wonder an “engrossing novel [that] is loaded with descriptions of period customs and 19th-century Catholic devotional objects and prayers...[and] asks daring questions about just how far some might go to prove their faith." Tune in to find out how Emma tapped her own upbringing in a religious household in Dublin to write an engrossing novel mired in reality.
