Between the Summers of 1972 and 1976, The Grateful Dead played several remarkable concerts at Roosevelt Stadium in Jersey City, NJ.
In an excellent piece, the scholarly Lost Live Dead details the significance of early-mid 1970s New Jersey shows, explaining why there weren't (couldn't be) more shows there beforehand. At this point in their career, Roosevelt was also the largest venue they played (24,000 cap), though it didn't sell out.
This is only the second of just a few July 1972 shows, with the band fresh off their European tour but not yet into what was just a monstrous Fall tour.
A wonderful soundboard from a masterfully played show, despite the piano not always cooperating. And yes, I'm playing the Dark Star.
