Experiential Art with Deep Underground and Y.G.B. Portland

Mia O'Connor is a 22 year old Portland native. She started dancing at age 3, joined pre professional dance company Jefferson dancers (2008-2012) after graduating from Grant HS, she moved to NYC to dance at the Ailey school. Once she returned to Portland, in January 2015 she created DUG, since then she's been doing tons of creative collaborative projects, traveling, performing, curating/organizing art shows & events, living, loving, learning, the list goes on and on! DUG (aka Deep Under Ground) is a series of events showcasing visual as well as performance artists. Live music, artist features, open mic and cypher.

Natalie Figueroa is an activist and community organizer that has addressed the intersections of art and revolution for over 18 years. Natalie, a Chicago Native, has organized alongside youth of color to address issues of police brutality, segregation, access to comprehensive health education and racial injustice in public schools. As a member of Housing Works and Leftist Lounge Chicago she helped create platforms for artists and activists to come together creating a space for  both collective healing and actin. Currently, she is working on Building community in Portland through her art Collective YGB (Young Gifted & Brown).
