A Different Nature has a tradition of airing natural soundscapes in conjunction with Earth Day, dating back to 1998 when the program's founding host Richard Francis directed that year's Earth Day programming: 24 hours of nothing but sounds from the natural environment.  Participants that day included current hosts Kathy Fors, Dr. Zomb, Daniel Flessas and myself --along with Richard, or course.    While Earth Day does not fall on a Monday this year, I happen to be hosting the show this coming week, and I have decided to once again air sounds from the world around us instead of the usual experimental musical fare.  And this year, the sounds will originate from close to home: urban soundscape recordings from right here in Portland; roaring surf at Hug Point (one of Richard's favorite places on the Oregon coast...); snipes and frogs as dusk & a dawn chorus of songbirds recorded near the Malheur National Wildlife Refuge (all recorded by yours truly over the years).  this week's host: Andy Hosch
