Arts in Prison

Co-hosts Emma Lugo and Mindi Griffiths interview Becky Mer and Andi Martin about arts programs within the Prison System. Becky Mer of the Prison Arts Coalition will discuss the arts in prison and how artists can get involved. Andi Martin, the wife of an incarcerated artist, will discuss her partner's art in prison projects and what it is like from the perspective of an insider artist. The Prison Arts Coalition, established in 2008, serves as a national network for prison arts in the United States. As a resource, the Prison Arts Coalition compiles publications, artistic works, research, events, and job postings to share with the public. As a coalition, they brings together a consortium of artists, organizations, facilities, students, researchers, and prison arts supporters to build collaboration and strengthen partnership.
