FELDMAN / CAGE MATCH : a preview of THIRD ANGLE NEW MUSIC's upcoming show
(NOTE: For some reason, the upper link is only THE FIRST HOUR, the link at the bottom down there after the description is THE SECOND HOUR)
Guest host Ron Blessinger of Third Angle New Music joins Daniel in the studio for a two-hour look at the friendship between two of the 20th century's greatest composers (and influences on music, period), MORTON FELDMAN & JOHN CAGE, as sort of a sneak preview of Third Angle's upcoming performance--"RADIO HAPPENINGS" March 10th & March 11th 7:30 each night at Zoomtopia 810 SE Belmont.

In the late 1960s, WBAI in NYC broadcasted about 6 hours of live conversations Cage and Feldman had live over the NYC airwaves. THIRD ANGLE draw from these illuminating recordings (the whole of them is now accessible on YouTube, natch) playing pieces referred to in the conversations as well as significant pieces composed by both men. Ron and I had a hilarious time--he's quite the rascal, and thankfully somewhat restless in his pursuit of adventurous and challenging musical experiences that we as portlanders get to partake of (concerts at public fountains, lawns, on front porches, etc).
Check out this show and you'll see what I mean..
