A Different Nature Winter Solstice

Sounds from cold climates & music inspired by the solstice and by winter. The program will include John Luther Adams' "Circle of Winds", Derek Charke's "Tundra Songs" performed by Kronos Quartet & Tanya Tagaq, "Winter Songs III" by Israeli composer Chaya Czernowin, "Awakening Earth" from Australian cellist Sarah Hopkins, selections from "Hibernation" by Norwegian ice musician Terje Isungset, Teiji Ito's "Winter / Epilogue", "Solstice" performed by Portland-based composer & educator Bonnie Miksch, "Darkening" by Ira J. Mowitz, and Toru Takemitsu's "Winter".
