What's happening with the federal climate bill?

The pressure is on for the United States to emerge from the dark ages of the Bush years and finally pass meaningful legislation to address the coming climate change crisis. So what is happening with the federal Climate Bill and will it have the teeth it needs. We'll find out from our guest, Liz Perera, who is the Washington Representative for Climate Policy with the Union of Concerned Scientists.

LIZ PERERA

As UCS's Washington Representative for Climate Policy at the Union of Concerned Scientists, Liz advocates for practical science-based policy solutions to climate change to policy makers, while helping translate climate science information to coalition partners, decision makers and the general public.

Prior to her work at the Union of Concerned Scientists, Liz worked as Climate Policy Specialist for the Climate Center at the Natural Resources Defense Council in Washington D.C. where she conducted research regarding national climate change policy design, specifically cost-control mechanisms such as agriculture and forestry offsets, banking/borrowing concepts, stationary vs. economy-wide and auction vs. allocation. She also worked on liquid coal and renewable energy policies.
