'Coffee for the community'
We at 'guess who's coming to radio??!!' love to bring attention to those who are doing work for the community, in its truest sense. No NGO or non-profit will take the place of any work the people on the ground do. Brian Bottman made the decision to open a coffee shop in the New Columbia neighborhood (the community he lives in) with the intent of creating a space where people in the community can gather in the name of liberation and love.
The Columbia International Cup has consistently held events since the shop opened, and currently they also do catering, and art is displayed from people in the community. The shop has notably opened its doors to host an free breakfast program twice a week for children, hosted by the All-African People's revolutionary Party (in the tradition of the Panthers).
Stay tuned to hear Brian speak to what inspires him to do the work he does.
