TRCI Prisoners Perform King Lear
Karen James is joined in a one-hour special by Johnny Stallings, Executive Director of Open Hearts Open Minds. After giving performances at Two Rivers Correctional Institution in Umatilla, Oregon, Johnny began facilitating weekly dialogues with the inmates. In 2008, at the prisoners’ request, they began rehearsals for a production of Shakespeare’s Hamlet. Since then, Johnny has produced an annual theatrical performance by TRCI inmates. Excerpts of this year’s play, King Lear, performed in September, will be heard along with interviews with the performers.
