Karen James interviews Jean Dentinger, program manager of Multnomah County Diversion Court, along with Matthew, Chris and Dale who share their experiences with Mental Health Court. As people with mental illness continue to cycle in and out of jails and prisons at unprecedented rates, Mental Health Court is a diversion program designed to help improve public safety by reducing criminal recidivism; improve the quality of life of people with mental illnesses and increase their participation in effective treatment.
