Traffic Engineer Magic: The Men Behind the Curtain directing us all.
The Bike Show is on vacation! Hope you enjoy a re-broadcast of one of our most popular shows, "The Mad Men Behind How Our Streets Get Made". Traffic engineers Rob Burchfield and Peter Koonce from the City of Portland and Jim Peters from DKS Associates visit with Tori and Michelle to discuss how our streets are being designed for bikes, motor vehicles, pedestrians and the crazy goal to have us all just get along.
Comments
Curb extensions/crossings designs to study....
Thanx for the info well delivered, kboo.
Please discuss the pedestrian/bicycling "intersection"
... for instance the bicycle highway of the Esplanade at crossing points.
Explain important points about bicyclist errors that go wrong quickly and along with motorist error leads to tragedy. Bicyclist/Motorist "intersection" studies suggest best treatments improve pedestrian element....
GOOD SHOW
Thanks for the Feedback!

Thanks for writing. I'm not sure if you intended this to get out on the day of the show, but yesterday's broadcast was pre-recoded.

However, we're planning on having the engineers back and I can keep these questions in mind when we do.You've brought up some really great points. If we can't fit them into an engineering show, maybe we can do a future show on how pedestrians and bicycles interact, especially on our bridges.

Thanks again for your feedback!
