Drone Warfare: Killing by Remote Control

Marjorie Cohn is the past president of the National Lawyers Guild and a professor at Thomas Jefferson School of Law, where she teaches criminal law and procedure, evidence, and international human rights law. She lectures throughout the world on human rights and US foreign policy. She writes extensively. Her last article is titled "Killer Drone Attacks Illegal, Counter-Productive."

The progressive activist Medea Benjamin is co-founder of Code Pink and Global Exchange. She visited Afghanistan shortly after the US invasion in 2002 and learned the reality behind "precision bombs." Benjamin just published a book called "Drone Warfare: Killing by Remote Control," looks at who is producing drones and who the victims are. It also examines the domestic use of drones.

Benjamin will introduce her book in Hood River on Thursday (6/28), in Portland on Friday & Saturday, and in Eugene on Sunday.

We will conclude the program with an update about the debris from the tsunami in Japan that is washing up on Oregon beaches. The radioactive danger is largely ignored by mainstream media and NOT measured by public agencies. Miriam German is with No Nukes NW, the only organization that is monitoring the radiation. She was one of the organizers of the anti-nuclear rally in Hanford on April 15.

Hosted by Gabriele Ross.
