we at 'guess who's coming to radio??!!' aim to look at health in as many angles as possible; and look to alternatives to systems which only treat our ailments symptomatically, as opposed to whollistically. music is one way to feed the soul and find roots in positive community action. another way is, of course, physical exercise.
cindi fisher of M.O.M.S (the movement of mothers standing up together) will be speaking about a walk in support of those who have been locked up either in hospitals or prisons/jails and diagnosed as being unable to function in 'normal' society due to a mental illness- many times mis-diagnosed. M.O.M.S. is an organization which advocates for those who fall under the abuse in these facilities, as well as a resource for "mothers and other concerned individuals" who are dealing with the pain of losing their children to the system.

we also will be speaking a bit about an all-day silent vigil we will be involved in, in honor of our teacher michael. in the end, it is not only about michael (obviously) but the need for us to take care of ourselves, and each other.
and... we are excited to present the art of the extremely wonderful george duke!!! we tend to play his productions from time to time, but we have never focused a show on one of our favourite producers, writers, arrangers and pianists/keyboardists! mr. duke has worked with everyone from frank zappa/the mothers of invention, jeffrey osbourne, stephanie mills, chaka khan, STEVIE WONDER, our teacher michael, sheila e (!!!), dianne reeves, the inimitable rachelle ferrell- and he's even produced a cure song!!! (you read that correctly- a cure song!). george duke always makes us smile, and we hope he makes you smile too!
