Occupy Portland, Union civil war, mental health reform, death row music
Joe Clement hosts and we hear:
- Bill Resnick on the Occupy Wall Street and up-coming Occupy Portland protests.
- Movie Moles, Denise Morris and Laurie Mercier, discuss the documentary American Dream, which looks at local union resistance in one of Hormel's meat-packing plants in the mid 1980s. One of the things they'll be considering is how unions get pitted against one another, both between (union a vs. union b) and within themselves (e.g. local vs. national).
- Jan Haaken interviews Bob Joondepth, Executive Director of Disability Rights Oregon. They will be talking about the legislative reforms governing the Oregon State Hospital, and whether they are meaningful reforms, and also the portrayal of the hospital in Jan's documentary "Guilty Except for Insanity".
- Joe and Brad Duncan, radical musicologist, discuss a couple poignant songs about the death penalty and death-row.
