Anniversaries: Attica, Magdalene Asylums, and James Chasse.

Anniversaries give us an excuse to reflect on where we have come from, and where we would like to go, and to reflect on our values. The mainstream media and government used the commemorations of 9/11, for example, to remind us to be afraid and to promote the “war on terror”. Tonight on Circle A Radio we look at other anniversaries in September, to remind ourselves of the importance of struggle, fighting injustice, and continuing the work we do. We will remember the Attica Rebellion which began on September 9, 1971, the closing of the last of the Magdalene Asylums in Ireland on September 25, 1996, and the killing of James Chasse by law enforcement officers on September 17, 2006 in Portland.
