the invasion of libya by the u.s. and other western nations has got us thinking again about what defines self-sufficiency. on what terms can any non-western nation have it without western influence? why do we in the west insist that other nations wish to have our kind of democracy, when we ourselves do not own it in its purest form? can a nation which is unhealthy work to fix others?
tonight on 'guess who's coming to radio??!!' we'll be playing some music which we feel represents the sentiments of artistic and cultural health and self-sufficiency/autonomy (either in theory or in practise) as well as playing some quotes and 'anecdotes' from those who share those sentiments. and yes, we will be discussing minister farrakhan's message to the obama administration to cease the actions of invasion toward libya. is it simply about oil? is it about the west (and the values stemmed from it) preventing african/black global solidarity, and the positive economic effects solidarity would bring?
if it is purely about 'humanitarian aid' why is the u.s. 'government' virtually silent on what is happening in saudi arabia, yemen and egypt (and TOTALLY silent on what has occurred in gabon), in comparison to how loud the response is to libya?
