Views, Reviews, and Interviews from a Socialist-Feminist, Anti-racist, Anti-colonial and LGBTQ-positive Perspective

Patricia Kullberg hosts this episode of the Old Mole, which includes the following segments:

You Are Not American: Laurie Mercier speaks with Amanda Frost, the David Massee Professor of Law and Director of the Immigration, Migration and Human Rights Program at the University of Virginia School of Law. They discuss how citizenship has always been contested and racialized in the United States, and what is new and not new about Trump’s immigration policies. Frost is author of the recent book,  You Are Not American: Citizenship Stripping From Dred Scott to the Dreamers.

Low April Sun: 2025 marked the 30th anniversary of the bombing of the federal building in Oklahoma City by white supremacists that killed 168 people. The novel Low April Sun by Constance E. Squires, reviewed by writer and photographer Matt Witt, is set against that atrocity and shows how its lasting impact radiated outward like ripples on a pond, leaving psychological scars long after the event itself. In so doing, this perceptive novel skillfully explores obsession, guilt, personal integrity, and forgiveness.
