The environment and the climate are having a rough ride at Portland City Council and in the backrooms of the Oregon State Capitol. Less than a day before a hearing on a housing regulatory reform package, Portland City Commissioner Rene Gonzalez, working behind the scenes with the Portland Business Alliance and other developers, introduced amendments that would suspend City of Portland requirements for green roofs, bird-safe window glazing and neighborhood notification for housing development projects. This is just one more example of the current council's hostility to the environment and fealty to the Portland Business Alliance.
On this episode of Locus Focus, Bob Sallinger, Conservation Director with Willamette Riverkeeper, returns to address the overbearing influence that the Portland Business Alliance has on our local and state governments, and what we can do about it. We are also joined by Lenny Dee, with Onward Oregon.
