This edition of The Talking Earth, hosted by dan raphael, features local poets Lisa Steinman, Teresa K. Miller and Matt Schumacher. dan will also read some work by Ivan Arguelles, Anne Carson and himself.
Teresa K. Miller is the National Poetry Series–winning author of Borderline Fortune, which was published by Penguin in 2021. She is also the author of the collections sped and Forever No Lo as well as co-editor of Food First: Selected Writings from 40 Years of Movement Building. Her poems and essays have appeared in ZYZZYVA, Lit Hub, Common Dreams, Columbia Poetry Review, and elsewhere.
Matt Schumacher’s works include the poetry titles Spilling the Moon, the Fire Diaries, A Missing Suspiria de Profundis, and favorite maritime drinking songs of the miraculous alcoholics. He edits the New Fabulist journal Phantom Drift and lives in North Portland.
Lisa Steinman has published nine books: three about poetry and six poetry collections; her most recent book of poetry is Absence & Presence from the University of Tampa Press. Her work has been recognized by the National Endowment for the Arts, the Oregon Arts Commission, Literary Arts, and the Rockefeller Foundation, among other places. From 1983 until this year, she co-edited with Jim Shugrue the poetry journal Hubbub.
