On this episode of The Gap, Tammy and Althea interview Robin Ye, one of the former charter commissioners in Portland that brought you Measure 26-228. If you’re someone who follows City Hall politics, this week has been a real rollercoaster. Last fall, voters passed remarkable government structure reforms in Measure 26-228 and the transition is on, to get things in order for the November 2024 election. But this week, Commissioners Rene Gonzalez and Dan Ryan introduced three proposals to change these reforms. This faced a lot of public outcry, and now Ryan has backed off, but at least one of the reforms -the mayoral veto- still lives. It’s a lot to breakdown, but we’re going to do it for you this morning.
Then, we invite our listeners to call in about Willamette Week's Best of Portland issue. What's your Best of Portland? What's your Worst of Portland?
Thanks to everyone for listening!
