Please join us on Monday, May 16th at 6:30 pm for Prison Pipeline on KBOO Community Radio as we talk with Kirk Charlton about his new show at the Paragon Arts Gallery. Kirk Charlton is a visual artist and creator of the currently offered program through the Department of Corrections called "Art Inside Out". Kirk is a formerly incarcerated person who understands the therapeutic aspects of art and the value that art can have to incarcerated persons. His program, "Art Inside Out" focuses on learning art as a pactice and includes a discussion at the end of each session on topics like love or compassoin. Kirk has completed over 40 drawings that illustrate experiences that he had during his more than 20 years behind bars.
Prison Pipeline is a radio program dedicated to educating the public about the Oregon criminal justice system. Our goal is to present a unique understanding of the criminal justice system, address the root causes of crime, and challenge the status quo. We seek to promote awareness and activism in order to foster a safe, healthy, and just society. Tune in every Monday at 6:30 P.M. to hear our hosts Karen James, Adam Carpinelli, Emma Lugo, and Doug McVay explore the Oregon justice system with a variety of guests.
Paragon Arts Gallery at Portland Community College Cascade Campus presents My Personal Experience, a drawing exhibition by Kirk Charlton opening May 4, 2022. Please join us for an artist talk and reception on Friday, May 20, 2022 from 5 - 8pm, with the artist talk at 6 pm. Public programming continues with two events “Drop-In & Draw: informal conversation with the artist” Saturday, May 14 and June 4, both from 1 - 3 pm. All events are free and open to the public. Masks are required at this time on PCC campuses.
