Welcome to the Swing ’n’ Country rundown for Saturday February 19th.  Today’s program allows you to choose between Texas or Tennessee, one set offers wisdom about drinking wine, and another set features some train rides for you to consider.  

And consider this - while preparing for the show I learned that "Midnight Train to Georgia"  began life as "Midnight Plane to Houston," written in 1972 by Jim Weatherly.  He gave permission for the change later that year, and Gladys Knight and The Pips became famous for that late train to Georgia. Weatherly still got credit for train/Georgia version, and he recorded it himself too. 

Weatherly also wrote “Best Thing That Ever Happened to Me,” and “Neither One of Us,” both of which are modern standards. Country legend Ray Price recorded many songs written by Weatherly, and other country artists recorded his music too.  Weatherly died last year in Brentwood, Tennessee at the age of 77.
