Denise Morris Hosts this Episode of the Old Mole, which includes:

The War on Drugs is Over in Oregon: This country’s war on drugs has been a disaster —generating drug violence across the planet and leading to mass incarceration, particularly harming people of color. Yet draconian drug laws and enforcement did not prevent increasing drug use and an epidemic of overdose death. Responding to this colossal failure, on Nov 3rd Oregon Passed Measure 110 that decriminalized possession of small amounts of not just marijuana and also provided funds for increased drug treatment. Bill Resnick talks to Tera Hurst of the Oregon Health Justice Recovery Alliance about Measure 110 that it sponsored. M 110 by far leads national efforts to decriminalize and offer treatment and must be well implemented to succeed. Bill and Tera discuss Measure 110’s  significance, and what must be done to implement it.

Inaugurate Justice: Jan Haaken talks with Destiny Houston about the Inaugurate Justice Rally, March and Caravan that will be held on Wednesday, January 20th at Irving Park in Portland, 4-7 pm. Houston is an organizer with Kid-Centered March for Black Lives and is a member of the Defend Democracy Coalition that is organizing the Inaugurate Justice event. She is the mother of three dynamic children, a Full Circle Doula, and a flight attendant for a major commercial airline. For more details see Rally to Inaugurate Justice and a video about events leading up to the rally.

Black Radicals: Sky Wilson interviews Kent Ford, co-founder of the Portland Chapter of the Black Panther Party about the role of the radical Black tradition in our world today. This interview was produced by Old Mole Desiree hellegers. Sky Wilson is new to KBOO and the Old Mole. Originally from Minneapolis, Sky has been a member of the Clark County community since 2007, when he moved to Vancouver to teach and finish his doctorate degree at Washington State University. For nearly two decades, his research and work has focused on community organizing, and local communities creating alternative community-based structures.
