PSU Black History Month Events

Portland State University -Thursday, February 21st

KBOO is proud to sponsor two special Black History events at Portland State University, on Thursday February 21st featuring east coast emcee, educator and community organizer Hasan Salaam. First is a multi-media presentation on the history of Black music titled, “ From Spirituals to Hip Hop. The second is a hip hop concert with local progressive artists, Siren’s Echo and the March 4th Marching Band.

U of O President Michael Gottfredson has made the decsion to gut it's formerr minority office of Instituional Equity and Diversity, including Eugene's Native American, African American and Hispanic department leaders!!!

Dr Tom Ball and Dr. Alison Ball were victims of the Natives programs cuts, a long with 2 other Vice Presidents of the Latino and African American university communities.

They will all be replaced by Dr. Yvette Alex-Assensoh, who cannot replace the role of all three of these proven leaders at the U of O.

Four Oregon Peace Choirs

KBOO is proud to be a media sponsor for One Voice, where four Oregon Choirs share
songs of peace, justice and joy. This musical event is Sunday, February 17th, 4:00 – 6:00
PM at the Milwaukie Lutheran Church, 3810 SE Lake Road, Milwaukie, Oregon.

This is a FREE and family friendly concert and will include a bake sale of sweet &
savory goodies. The four performing choirs are: Portland Peace Choir, In Accord, Rogue
Valley Peace Choir and the Eugene Peace Choir.

36th Portland International Film Festival

KBOO is excited to be a media sponsor for the 36th Portland International Film Festival,
presented by the NW Film Center. This year KBOO is sponsoring LA CAMIONETA: THE
JOURNEY OF ONE AMERICAN SCHOOL BUS by Mark Kendall.

Every day, dozens of decommissioned school buses leave the United States and migrate
through Mexico to Guatemala, where they are repaired, repainted, and reborn as the
