Hello KBOO!

It's so good to make your digital acquaintance! I'm Becky, and I'm finishing my first week here at KBOO as the development director. I'll be working closely with the staff to cultivate all variety of relationships: partnership, sponsorship, community. It's an incredible honor to be here, and I'm excited for the future of KBOO as we take a strategic look together, as a member-supported radio station, at independent, inclusive media.

Bread and Roses is Women History Month every Friday!

What? Is this really happening?  I thought to myself: “Here is a fifty some year old man, sitting at my kitchen table, describing to me, without me prompting the conversation, the strong women who influenced the way he lives his life.” He spoke about his mother, his grandmother, his aunt and other women activists he met throughout his life that have had a strong impact on him. Wow. My first conclusion was I am so lucky to have a friend like Christopher who is able to speak about the strong women in his life in a totally casual way. Program Underwriting: Business Support that is Noncommercial and Sustainable

KBOO listeners are savvy; you tune in for news you’re not supposed to know and music curated by hundreds of diverse experts. You also depend on the quality of signal that only comes from a noncommercial source. While KBOO does not sell airtime for commercials, we do seek businesses and organizations to help sponsor, or “underwrite,” specific programs. To safeguard KBOO’s noncommercial quality, KBOO uses one of the nation’s most stringent set of restrictions to determine who is eligible to underwrite our programs.
