Workers Demand Union Organizing Rights as Starbucks Closes 600 Stores

The Seattle-based Starbucks coffee company announced today that the company will close six hundred stores throughout the U.S. <?xml:namespace prefix = o>

According to the company, the stores scheduled for closure are unprofitable.  The company hopes to increase earnings by one hundred million dollars a year through the closure of these stores.

This move comes at a crucial time for Starbucks, as workers across the country organize to demand that the company allow them to form unions.
