Sample and learn from over thirty exhibitors at Portland’s inaugural fermentation festival, TONIGHT, from  6:00 - 8:00 PM, at the Billy Frank, Jr. Conference Center, located at  721 NW 9th Ave in Portland.  This event, which includes special guest Sandor Ellix Katz, author of Wild Fermentation, is open to whatever you want to bring -- fermented food and drink to share, products to sell, recipes, cultures etc. Or don't bring anything at all -- just come and enjoy some late summer skill sharing, talking, eating and drinking of all sorts of tasty food and drink.   More information at ecotrust.org

Portland's Love Makes A Family will host two booths at the Oregon State Fair from August 28th to September 7th, and is looking for volunteers or teams to host their Equality Booth, and their Peace Booth. Both booths will have fun activities for kids, stickers, and helpful handouts for the public. This is a great opportunity to represent Portland's diversity at the state fair.  Fair admission will be provided. Volunteer at a park this weekend and help keep Portland Parks pesticide-free! Saturday, August 29, 10:00 until noon Hillside Park (653 NW Culpepper Terr) Sunday, August 30, 1:00 until 3:00  Midland Park (SE 122nd and Morrison).  We will be replacing the use of pesticides by weeding in  the park.  Tools and gloves will be provided. Families are welcome. Please respond to
