Miho Aida documents the lives of remarkable women making a difference in the outdoors.
This week on Bread and Roses we welcome Miho Aida, outdoors educator, photographer, filmmaker, traveler, activist and founder of the "If She Can Do It, You Can Too" project. She has made the commitment to "document the lives of remarkable women making a difference in the outdoors." Miho is dedicated to increasing the representations of women of color, their experiences and leadership in the great outdoors in the media. She has traveled to Nepal, Chile and Kenya among other places and recently to Gwich'in territory in Alaska.

Her latest documentary film "The Sacred Place where Life Begins, Gwich'in Women Speak" documents the efforts of the Gwich'in women to protect the coastal plain of the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge in Alaska, one of America’s greatest wilderness.

In July, Miho was on a bike tour of the Pacific Northwest screening her film and inviting people to sign a petition to save the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge. She stopped by the studios of KBOO to tell us about the film and her project. Sign the petition here: http://mihoaida.com/gwichin/take-action/

Miho says about "If She Can Do It, You Can Too" that "traveling and working with women I met helped me to recognize my own privilege and personal power. I have a responsibility to take actions supporting global equity. This project is my lifetime commitment to social change. Most importantly, my love for people and nature are the fuel to keep me on this path."
