Urban League's Midge Purcell: Should everyone have a fair chance for a good job and stable housing?

Guest host Dave Mazza speaks with Midge Purcell of the Urban League about their campaign to pass an ordinance to require employers and landlords to remove the box on applications asking about an applicant's previous arrest record or convictions.

They ask if you believe that everyone should have a fair chance for a good job and stable housing?

Have you or someone you know faced job or housing discrimination because of a criminal record?

The Urban League of Portland along with Oregon AFL-CIO and Oregon Action are launching a campaign to pass an ordinance in the City of Portland to require employers and landlords to remove the box on applications asking about an applicant's previous arrest record or convictions. With this ordinance, if background checks are necessary, they are done much later in process, giving applicants a fair chance to employment and housing.

The kick-off event is:
Tuesday July 15, 2014 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM PDT
Highland Christian Center • Fellowship Hall
7600 NE Glisan St
