Air date:
Tue, 02/02/2010 - 6:00pm - 7:00pm
Short Description:
The Other Team takes a look at the queer side of the book-aisle in Young Adult literature.

Does our rainbow-pride shine at the library? We'll discuss, as The Other Team takes a look at the queer side of the book-aisle in Young Adult literature.

Have you ever asked yourself: how queer friendly is my local library? Or what about the library at your local high school? These answers depend on where you live, and the perspective of the local school board.

There's alot going on in the world of Young Adult Literature, and tonight we'll take a closer look at the queer side of the story.

Tonight we talk with Twig Deluge, from Bare Bones Press and Productions, about his work toward bringing queer voices to the mainstream. This new publishing company just signed their first author, and they host a local writing group for queer youth.

We'll also talk with Marcus Ewert, author of 10,000 Dresses. This is a picture book (for the wee ones) with a transchild as the main character. (!!!)

We'll also speak with Flo, who's day job keeps her deep in the treches of Young Adult and childrens literature. We'll hear her latest favorites from the queer side of the book aisle, as well as authors to check out.

The Kicked Out Anthology was featured on last week's Out Loud radio show. Tonight, tune in to hear a more in depth interview from a Kicked Out contributor.
