Gathering Commemorates Victims of the Nuclear Bombing of Hiroshima
On August 6th, 1945, the United States dropped two nuclear bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki killing 200,000 people. To commemorate the event, Eugene will have a community gathering.
In Portland, there will also be a commemoration ceremony by the Oregon chapters of the Women's International League for Peace and Freedom and Physicians for social responsibility. The ceremony will be held from 6 pm-7pm at the Japanese American Historical Plaza in Waterfront Park.
