Gathering Commemorates Victims of the Nuclear Bombing of Hiroshima

Wed, 08/05/2009 On August 6th, 1945, the United States dropped two nuclear bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki killing 200,000 people. To commemorate the event, Eugene will have a community gathering.
In Portland, there will also be a commemoration ceremony by the Oregon chapters of the Women's International League for Peace and Freedom and Physicians for social responsibility. The ceremony will be held from 6 pm-7pm at the Japanese American Historical Plaza in Waterfront Park.
