Portland-based Mercy Corps ("core") says the new book “Half the Sky” gives readers a realistic look at the serious challenges faced by women in developing countries.  The humanitarian aid group has launched a contest, asking book clubs to read “Half the Sky” and take some type of action to help solve the problems presented in the book.  It’s part of the group’s “One Table” campaign, an appeal to women to support programs that help other women lead their families out of poverty.
