Portland Yiddish Hour on 11/01/09
This week's Yiddish Hour will be a high energy, balkans/klezmer, dance, mizrachi (perhaps) show. If your kids say they don't like Jewish music, make them listen to this show. It's going to be sort of Grateful Dead meets balkan dance party (oy, maybe I make too big expectations).
Look. If you're over 50, don't be scared. Think of it this way ... haven't you always wanted to listen to what the kinder are playing, but wish the volume didn't have to be so high? I'll play it loud, but you can always turn down your own radio to a comfortable level ... it's like being able to turn down that annoying DJ at a simcha. I really think the alter volk will find that, at the right volume they like this stuff, it's got a great beat and it does have roots in tradition!
