The concerted might of Monsanto has come down on Don Huber, plant pathologist and retired professor emeritus at Purdue University. What did Huber do to chuff the Lords of Transgenistan? Last January he wrote a letter to Agricultural Secretary Tom Vilsack in which he dared question the wisdom of releasing genetically modified organiusms into the wild. - not that 5 thousand acres of soybeans looks especially 'wild' - Let's say ex camera...In any case, they don't stay where you put them and they travel. The effect the most fundamental deep structure that underlies the chemistry of life itself. Monkeying around with the genetic code of organisma sends ripples all the way up the food chain. and even worse; it changes soil chmistry and structure. And that is something that has evolved since before life in any form began. Soil is a living creature that happens in geological time. Even so, researchers such as Don Huber have begun looking into evidence of the effect of these new protein chains and the evidence ought to send up red flags. Instead it's sending up confetti. Read Huber's letter. Read everything you can that he has written. And be forewarned: Monsanto's heavy hand is on the scales. The articles responding to Huber's letter - which was never intended for public 'consumption' in the first place - are all of the same character, suggesting that they were all written by the same person and placed in the papers and on the websites. In the Capitol Press, the article appeared on the fron tpage, above the fold. and just beneath it an even more alarming piece on 'out-sourcing' research. This screed claims that agribusiness plans to police itself and it is going to that overseas, far from any form of neutral third party oversight...
