We flipped the script for this program. Black Book Talk co-host O B Hill is our guest, along with Gloria McMurtry. They are the founders of Reflections Coffee and Books which, for 17 years, drew fans to the crossroads of MLK Blvd and Killingsworth St. More than a coffee, gift and book shop, Reflections was a haven for African-Americans, whether Portland natives or newcomers searching for community.
Gloria, O B and Reflections manager "Reggae Bob" Hamilton share anecdotes and memories of the programs held and people who passed through their doors. As Reggae Bob said, "Once they came in, nobody wanted to keave."
Join us as we reminisce about the place known as the "Cheers of N/NE Portland".
[A Reflections Reunion is scheduled for from Noon - 4 p.m.,Saturday, May 25th at the Soul Restoration Center, 14 NE Killingsworth.]
